Rogue Daffodils

Wow. First post since 05 January 05. Guess I've been busy. A newborn will do that to you. Nicholas is a great little baby. A bruiser, too. Over 16 lbs already, at almost 4 mos of age. Little guy has a fever right now. Rough night last night.

Yes, after seeding a new lawn last year, we have rogue daffodils, probably churned up when the yard was rototilled. I actually find them rather amusing, tenaciously sprouting up in a sea of grass. This world could use more rogue daffodils.

So that's my life these days. Rogue daffodils, really small things (I design photomasks and also perform scanning electron microscopy) and diapers. Lotsa diapers. Sleep deprivation.

Sentence fragments.

chapter 2:A Tail of Two Trout

Last Saturday was the 1st day of trout season in Pennsylvania. All across the state, faithful anglers shelled out US$29 to secure a license to outsmart small marine animals with 4oz brains. I am proud to announce that I successfully hooked two! Calvin took to casting like a fish to...hmmmm perhaps a better metaphor could be chosen. Anyhow, he really started having fun with it, although a little disappointed to not catch any fish. But here's the great thing about being a Dad. He was excited whenever I caught a fish. Major celebration excited.

Very satisfying.

And so it goes. With a 4mos old, the days blur into one another. And weeks blur into months. But I persevere. For moments like my 7yr old celebrating the capture of an unwitting fish. Rogue daffodils sprouting in my yard. A small hand grasping mine, smiling eyes staring up.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, babe.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, baby blue.

Breathe.
Evolve.
Laugh.
